DIPORTO NAUTICO SISTIANA
(1988-2022)

The Diporto Nautico Sistiana is an amateur sports association recognized by the ITALIAN OLIMPIC COMMITTEE and affiliated with the National Federations of Sailing and Fishing. It is a small but well-established sporting reality with about 160 members who enjoy a nautical base in the BAY OF SISTIANA with 130 berths reserved for members. In the 2022 season the new headquarters will be inaugurated and will have ample space for offices, classrooms, services and an entire floor dedicated to the bar/restaurant service for members.

Over the years, the club has developed a happy union between sporting activities at increasingly high competitive levels and the practice of recreational boating by organizing races, championships and social events and taking care of the technical updating of members and the promotion of boating with a school dedicated to offshore sailing. The club has distinguished itself for the organization of often innovative local sailing events and national and European championships. It has promoted the establishment of its own competitive team (SISTIANA SAILING TEAM) to be the protagonist in events of national and international importance and to allow members to approach the great sport. The athletes of the Diporto Nautico, thanks also to the technical and didactic support of the club, have obtained important results and titles in Italian and World Offshore Championships, Italian and European Sportboat Championships, National Club Championships and in the most important regattas in the Northern Adriatic.

The club has participated for over a decade with boats owned by members in international events in the MAXI YACHT class, with the presence of important sailing professionals such as Paul Cayard, Mauro Pelaschier and Cino Ricci, thus offering its members opportunities for growth and learning racing techniques at the highest level. The new headquarters will offer opportunities for the expansion of sporting activities, with particular attention to the youth sector of offshore sailing, that can already count on members who have started the preparation for major events such as the solo ocean race Mini-Transat or an Olympic campaign for the 49er class.

Through its activities and its presence in the area, the club is committed to maintaining and increasing the quality and social usability of the Bay of Sistiana, promoting its beauty and maritime traditions. In its social and sporting events, the Diporto Nautico Sistiana combines sport and solidarity in the best possible way, dedicating its own resources and part of the contributions received to concrete help for structures that provide assistance to the sick and needy and to international humanitarian organizations that operate under the aegis of the UNITED NATIONS.
